Will GTA 6 Come to PC? What Rockstar Has and Hasn't Said
Rockstar has announced no PC version, no date and no system requirements. Every timeframe you have read is built on how long previous ports took — and those ranged from 7 to 19 months.

Rockstar has not announced a PC version of GTA 6. No release date, no storefront page, no system requirements. The official GTA VI site lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and nothing else.
That is the entire confirmed picture. Everything below is context for reading the predictions you will encounter elsewhere.
Will there be a PC version at all?
Almost certainly, though Rockstar has not said so.
The reasoning is commercial rather than speculative. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked about PC at the company's recent annual meeting and said the PC platform is becoming more and more important to Take-Two — while stopping short of confirming a GTA 6 PC version. He has separately estimated that PC accounts for a large share of major release sales.
Every mainline Grand Theft Auto since the series moved to 3D has eventually reached PC. So has Red Dead Redemption 2.
Why isn't it launching alongside the console versions?
Rockstar has not given a detailed explanation. PC Gamer reports the company's position as console players being GTA's core audience.
A former Rockstar producer, John Ricchio, has described the studio's general approach: build against fixed console hardware first, then expand to PC afterwards. On PC, Rockstar's ports have historically added graphics options and features the console versions did not have — Red Dead Redemption 2 is the usual example. That takes time.
When might it arrive?
Nobody outside Rockstar knows. What exists is precedent.
| Game | Console release | PC release | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto V | September 2013 | April 2015 | 19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 2018 | November 2019 | 13 months |
Across Rockstar's recent titles the gap has run from roughly 7 to 19 months, averaging 12 to 14.
The GTA V gap was unusually long because a console generation changed in the middle of it — PS4 and Xbox One versions arrived before the PC release.
Applied to 19 November 2026, a 12-to-14-month gap points somewhere in late 2027. Published estimates cluster between spring 2027 and spring 2028, with autumn 2027 named most often. PC Gamer's own view is that it is unlikely before November 2027.
None of this is a schedule. It is arithmetic on old releases.
Is there any reporting suggesting it could be sooner?
Some. VGC's Andy Robinson has said on the VGC Podcast that there is a bit of noise around Rockstar bringing the PC version forward, partly because of conditions in the current hardware market.
That is commentary on industry chatter, not an announcement, and no date attaches to it.
How much should you trust insider predictions?
Less than the confident ones deserve.
Corsair vice-president Ronald van Veen previously said his understanding was that GTA 6 would land on console in autumn and on PC in early 2026. The console date has since moved twice and landed on November 2026, which makes that prediction wrong on both halves.
A leaker also circulated a February 2027 PC date, sourced by messaging around ninety former Rockstar employees on LinkedIn and receiving three replies. Three responses from a cold outreach campaign is not a corroborated report.
What about system requirements?
There are none. Rockstar has published no PC specifications, so every requirements table in circulation is an estimate derived from console hardware.
Do not buy a graphics card on the strength of one. Wait for Rockstar's own figures and independent benchmarks.
For what it is worth on the technical side, Digital Foundry's reading of the footage is that the game appears to use ray-traced lighting as a core rendering technique, and that the heaviest load comes from simulation — traffic density, NPC counts, physics — rather than from resolution alone. That points to a demanding port, but it is analysis of trailers, not a spec sheet.
What does this mean for mods and roleplay servers?
Custom servers need PC. FiveM, the platform that carries GTA 5 roleplay, runs on the PC version of GTA V and has no console equivalent.
So the roleplay timeline follows the PC timeline, then adds however long it takes for modding tools to arrive and communities to rebuild. If the PC version lands in late 2027, stable GTA 6 roleplay servers realistically follow in 2028.
Anyone advertising a GTA 6 roleplay server today is describing a community preparing for a game that has not shipped.
