In GTA roleplay you do not play yourself in a sandbox — you play a character who lives in the city: a paramedic, a mechanic, a lawyer, a crook. Other players are the police, the judges and the shopkeepers. Servers enforce rules such as Fail RP and New Life Rule (NLR) to keep the fiction consistent.
Today this happens on modified GTA V servers, mostly through FiveM. Whether and how it carries over to GTA 6 is open: GTA 6 will have official support for roleplay servers. Rumor
